Be Inspired

One of my New Year’s resolutions this year is to be more inspired. There is a difference between being inspiring and being inspired. As a pastor, my job is to inspire others to follow Jesus, to live for him, and to become everything He intended them to be.

I can think of a lot of different ways and avenues to be inspiring. There are different sermon illustrations I can use, different quotes I can say, different stories I can tell. But the greatest way to be inspiring is to be inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us that the men who wrote the holy Scriptures were men that were inspired by God. God wants to inspire us every day and when he inspires us we become inspiring.

I feel that the way to be inspired is to be consecrated. The greater the consecration, the greater the inspiration in your life. We have to be a people like Enoch in the book of Genesis that walk closely with the Lord. The Bible says that Enoch walked in close fellowship with the Lord and he didn’t die. God just took him up to heaven.

When you walk in close fellowship with Jesus and are consecrated before him He will touch your soul in ways you never thought possible and you will find yourself awakened to His desires. When you’re inspired by God look out! Because inspired people make things happen. Inspired people kick down doors. Inspired people look for opportunities. Inspired people seek to change the world.

I pray that 2014 would be the year of great inspiration in your life. That you would use the zeal, passion, and energy that comes with that inspiration to change your sphere of influence.

I’m Harold Dorrell Briscoe. Thanks for reading.
